Mock Polls, Real Power
Rashtra Shakti Vidyalaya Was buzzed with democratic fervor as a Mock Election activity for students of Classes VI to VIII was organised to commemorate National Panchayati Raj Day 2025. A fictional village served as the perfect backdrop for this hands-on civic exercise, transforming young minds into aspiring leaders and engaged citizens.
It was a three-phase event which began with students presenting their manifestos in class, leading to the selection of top candidates. Party symbols, campaign agents, and creative slogans filled the air, reflecting a deep engagement with the political process.
In the second phase the final candidates took the center stage during the assembly, to present their manifestos to the entire student body. The speeches were not only spirited but also reflected a deep understanding of grassroots governance and community needs.
The grand finale took place on April 24 at the school’s playground, which was transformed into a full-fledged polling station. The process mirrored the conduct of real elections. Roles such as Election Commissioners and polling booth officials were diligently performed by students, ensuring a smooth and transparent voting process.
The activity not only ignited leadership and civic sense but also reinforced the values of democracy, participation, and accountability. Through mock polls, students didn’t just learn about democracy—they lived it.
The successful execution of the Mock Election was made possible under the visionary guidance and unwavering support of the school’s Director, Ms. Shashi Tyagi. Her forward-thinking approach and constant encouragement inspired both teachers and students to engage deeply with the activity. It was through her emphasison experiential learning and value-based education that the event was shaped into a meaningful and impactful celebration of democracy. HOS Ma’am Meenakshi Bhatt applauded the Social science Department and all the students engaged in the process.
